Philadelphia gun-control law inspires other cities to adopt similar measures

Mayor Michael Nutter plans to join mayors from seven other Pennsylvania cities today who hope to adopt stricter laws on reporting lost or stolen guns based on a law in Philadelphia. The law that requires any lost or stolen guns to be reported to the police within 72 hours.

Joe Grace, executive director of CeaseFire Pa, applauded the mayors’ decision to enact legislation locally in trying to slow illegal gun trafficking.

The other cities planning to model similar gun legislation are York, Bethlehem, Lancaster, Reading, Easton, Allentown and Pottsville. Mayor Nutter will be in Reading, PA this afternoon for the announcement.
