Is Philadelphia a safer city under new management?

Thursday, August 21st, 2008 at 2:58 pm - by Matt Campbell. Filed under: Crime.

Police Commissioner Charles Ramsey interviewed by Tom Ferrick

The biggest concern for voters in last year’s Philadelphia mayoral election was crime. It was a year in which 264 people were murdered. Since that time, residents here have a new mayor and a new police commissioner. A lot of promises were made by the two, including reducing the number of homicides by 25% by the end of 2008. As of yesterday that rate is 22% with 206 reported homicides.

Tomorrow It’s Our City will present an in-depth interview with Philadelphia Police Commissioner Charles Ramsey about the new crime strategies he’s brought to our city.

We’ll have a one-hour online video interview conducted by former Philadelphia Inquirer reporter/columnist Tom Ferrick. If you live in the Philadelphia region, if you’re thinking about moving to the area, you owe it to yourself to see this interview and judge for yourself:
