WHYY hosts town meeting
WHYY will host the town meeting "What is a Good Death?" on Monday, February 4 at 7 p.m. in the WHYY Technology Center, 150 N. 6th Street in Philadelphia. Dr. Dan Gottlieb, host of WHYY-FM's Voices in the Family, heard Mondays at noon on 91FM (90.9), will moderate the forum.

Sponsored by WHYY's Wider Horizons service, the meeting continues the national conversation about important end-of-life issues that were initiated by journalist Bill Moyers' acclaimed television series On Our Own Terms, which examines death and dying in America. Family Focus workshop
WHYY is hosting the workshop "You Can Count on Mother Goose" on Wednesday, February 6 at 7 p.m. at the WHYY Technology Center. Presented by Sally Anderson, executive director of the Vermont Center for the Book, this free, hands-on workshop introduces parents and caregivers of preschool children to the process skills of math. Participants will also learn fun, educational activities to use with young children. A question-and-answer session and refreshments will follow. WHYY presents 'The Taste of The Book and The Cook'
WHYY invites you to enjoy great food, wonderful wines, beer and spirits at "The Taste of The Book and The Cook" on Wednesday, February 20 from 5:30 to 8 p.m. in the Millennium Ballroom of the Loews Philadelphia Hotel at 12th and Market Sts.

Guests can taste dishes that will be prepared by guest cookbook authors at restaurants throughout the city during the 18th annual KitchenAid "The Book and The Cook" from March 15 through 24, one of America's leading dining events.

Christina Pirello, host of WHYY TV12's Christina Cooks, and Chef Jim Coleman, host of 91FM's A Chef's Table and Flavors of America on TV12, will be on-hand to prepare their own unique recipes. Nearly 30 of the region's best restaurants will offer previews of the dishes that will be a part of the special menus featured in "The Book and The Cook" restaurant series. Guests will be able to make reservations for the upcoming "The Book and The Cook" dining events that evening.

'Teaming Up With Books'
WHYY is teaming up with the Philadelphia Phantoms minor league hockey team on Sunday, February 24 to score a goal for literacy. Any child who brings a new or gently-used book to donate will receive a coupon for free admission with the purchase of one adult ticket to that night's Phantoms game at 5:05 p.m. WHYY will distribute all books collected to several local organizations. Maternity Care Coalition seminar at WHYY
The first session of the Maternity Care Coalition's 2002 Professional Education Series will be held on Tuesday, February 26 from 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at the WHYY Technology Center.

The session will explore the role of faith communities in childbirth and family support through various celebratory rituals that welcome children into the world and religious rites of passage for young people and by providing a framework for value systems within the family. The session will take a special look at the diversity of religious cultures in the Delaware Valley.
