Anchor/Reporter

WHYY is looking for an outstanding News Anchor/Reporter for its award-winning, Delaware-based evening newscast, "Delaware Tonight". This is not an entry level position. The ideal candidate will possess at least five years experience as a news anchor and seven or more years as a general assignment reporter. Applicants must display excellent news judgment, have well-established list of local Delaware contacts and sources, and possess excellent writing and interpersonal skills. Along with a Bachelor's degree in a related discipline, the successful candidate must be familiar with modern video production equipment and various software packages. Previous supervisory experience preferred. A DVD of on-air work must accompany resume in order to be considered for this position. 5/28/08


Associate Producer, Video

This is position is responsible for research, field support and associated web content development and editing support for the Producer position. This ideal candidate will possess a minimum of two years experience in television production, including editing of video and audio materials, experience working on short forms pieces and previous experience preparing content for multi-media platform distribution. A degree or the equivalent work experience, well-developed communication and interpersonal skills, and the ability to be a competent team player are necessary. The ability to read music is a plus! Some evenings and weekend hours are necessary, along with the ability to lift up to 25 lbs. A valid driver's license and access to a vehicle are necessary. 07/10/08


Associate Producer/Reporter, Health & Science Desk

A fulltime, grant funded opportunity for an individual with two years experience researching and reporting spot news - for television, radio and web distribution. The ideal candidate will possess a degree in a related discipline, have strong research, web content and editing skills. Previous experience in a multi-media environment is a must. This position will also be responsible for assisting in the creation and execution of live panel discussions. Interested applicant must send a writing sample along with their resume and cover letter. Civic Space Coordinator

This part-time, benefits eligible position will work as a member of WHYY's membership team to coordinate WHYY member events as well as WHYY's organizational meeting and event schedule. This position will work with various departments throughout the organization to assist with planning and preparation of events and meetings. Assist with the management of RSVP and attendance lists. Previous experience with Convio marketing software and database management preferred. Event planning experience required. Occasional evening and weekend hours will be necessary. 07/10/08


Executive Director, News & Information Content

Reporting to the Vice President, Chief Content Officer, this position is responsible for maximizing the quality and content of WHYY's multi-platform distribution of news and information services to the Delaware Valley, with the intention of helping WHYY deliver on its mission of being "best in class"; a valued media source for the region. As the leader of the news and information content team, the executive director is accountable for ensuring the overall quality and integrity of content for 91FM, TV12, and whyy.org. The successful candidate will possess five to 7 years of increasing responsibility in a news/media organization, strong editorial judgement, a well-developed knowledge with the creation, production, strategy and distribution of news in a media outlet; and familiarity with a multiple distribution environment. Previous experience managing a team of producers, reporters, and anchors, along with superior organizational and interpersonal skills are also required. An interest in or knowledge of emerging technologies which facilitate a multi-platform distribution environment is mandatory. 6/20/08


Marketing Coordinator(s)

An exciting opportunity to work in WHYY's newly created Community Relations Department, within the Membership Division. Reporting to the Community Relations Manager, the positions will develop, plan and implement activities and initiatives to promote WHYY throughout the region in order to attract and maximize member engagement/attainment. These positions will be responsible for implementing experiential member events and marketing campaigns to attract membership across the board - from Kids Club to retirement communities. These positions will develop partnerships with community organizations and work closely with other WHYY departments to identify, develop and execute member recruitment opportunities. Well-developed interpersonal skills, inclulding presentation skills, strong writing and verbal skills and advanced knowledge of various software packages are required. Some evening and weekend hours will be necessary. A Bachelor's degree in a related disicipline is preferred. Event planning experience a plus. Knowelge of public broadcasting preferred. Since these positions involve travel thoughout the Delaware Valley, a valid driver's license is necessary. 07/10/08


Production Project Manager

A fulltime opportunity for someone with five to seven years experience in a production environment, with responsibilities managing multiple projects, the coordination of resources, including personnel, equipment and budgetary needs, and the ability to effectively work across the organization in order to move projects along. The incumbent must have a working knowledge of the content production process, techniques and key components, a well-developed aptitude for math and some basic accounting experience in order to monitor various budget projects, and excellent interpersonal and communication skills. A degree in a related discipline, along with strong organizational and problem-solving skills are also required. 7/18/08


Promotions Producer

A full time opportunity in our Promotions and Branding Department for an individual with two to four years hands-on TV promotion experience. This position will be responsible for developing audio and video promotional pieces to maximize WHYY's opportunity via expanding distribution platforms for membership messaging, station branding, program and event promotion. In addition to the required experience level, the successful candidate will be a self-starter, who has a well-developed knowledge of branding and promotions in a media environment, is proficient in video editing system, possesses excellent writing skills and can produce quality work in a fast-paced, deadline driven environment. Senior Publicist

This position, reporting to the Executive Director of Public Information, is responsible for developing press releases, pitching story ideas, preparing copy, overseeing photo shoots, and maximizing the community's awareness of WHYY's News and Information strand, Children's Services, and corporate functions and issues. In order to successfully achieve these objectives, the ideal candidate will possess three to five years of relevant experience in a newspaper, public relations, or marketing environment with a proven track record of extensive media placement. In addition, superb writing skills, excellent knowledge of graphic design, familiarity with various software programs, photography, excellent interpersonal skills and relationships with local media are necessary. A Bachelor's degree in English, journalism, advertising, marketing or the equivalent work experience/knowledge is required. Well-defined organizational skills will enable the incumbent to manage multiple projects, with the end result being a quality product. This position also involves some travel, irregular hours on a regular basis and some lifting (5-10lbs). Videographer

WHYY is looking for experienced videographers to be called on an as-needed basis. The ideal candidate will possess 5 years experience, preferably in a news environment; adept at shooting with handheld cameras as well as studio camera operation; knowledge of lighting and audio and familiarity with Avid Media Composer. This is an on-call opportunity; days, nights and weekends may be required. Individuals must be able to lift a minimum of 25 lbs. and be able to travel to our Philadelphia and Delaware locations.


Video Producer

The successful candidate will have a minimum of three experience producing and/or directing television programs; a thorough demonstrated knowledge of tv and film production in order to conceptualize, plan and produce content that will be distributed on digital platforms and familiarity with multi-media productions, robotic equipment and advanced digital editing skills. A Bachelor's degree in a related discipline (or the equivalent professional experience), excellent interpersonal and communication skills, and the ability to produce quality content in a hectic, deadline driven environment.
