Budget Analyst

A fulltime opportunity for an individual with a minimum of two years experience in accounting/finance and a proficiency in budgeting and variance analysis. Additionally, the successful candidate will possess a strong knowledge of excel and have experience with accounting software packages. A Bachelor's degree in a related discipline and strong communication skills required. Previous experience in a non-profit, media or technology envirnonment a plus. (1/8/10)


Director of Individual Giving

Reporting to the Executive Director of Donor Relations, this newly formulated position will provide the strategic and tactical management of WHYY's major gift and planned giving programs by developing and implementing a comprehensive fund-raising program that reflects and addresses the ever-changing landscape of public media. This position will provide direct supervision to two members of the development staff. Requirements include: a minimum of five years of successful fundraising experience, a Bachelor's degree in a related discipline, and previous management experience. In addition, the successful candidate will possess excellent written, verbal and interpersonal skills, with the sophistication and comfort needed to successfully solicit gifts. Previous experience working closely with Board and senior staff members necessary; knowledge of public media preferred. This position involves extended evening and/or weekend hours on a regular basis. A valid driver's license and access to a vehicle required as well. (12/9/09)


Executive Director, Corporate Underwriting

A full time opportunity for an experienced media sales professional. This position is responsible for the management and revenue generation of corporate and non-profit revenue for WHYY TV, FM and Web and related corporate/community events. The Executive Director, Corporate Underwriting manages a department of six (6), coordinates funding of budgeted and non-budgeted productions, and plans and manages revenues/expenses for high priority, revenue-generating annual projects. The successful candidate will possess 10 or more years experience in sales in a media industry or the not-for-profit sector; strong presentation skills, well-developed interpersonal skills and relevant budget experience. Previous managerial experience and knowledge of trends affecting media sales and revenue also required. This position will require frequent local travel and irregular hours from time to time. Foundation and Corporate Relations Manager

Reporting to and in collaboration with the Executive Director, Donor Relations, this fulltime position will provide strategic leadership for the development and implementation activities required to secure significant financial support from corporations and foundations. The foundation and corporate relations manager will be expected to establish and maintain relationships with external organizations with the anticipation of raising signficant resources for WHYY. The ideal candidate will possess a minimum of three to four years of field experience with a solid track record in soliciting and securing major grants; strong communication skills, including writing skills and the ability to communicate clearly and effectively with diverse groups; a thorough understanding of donor relationships and management; excellent organizational skills needed to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines; previous managerial experience required in order to successfully manger and direct Foundation Associate; and knowledge of reporting requirements. This position requires irregular hours on a regular basis. A valid driver's license and access to a vehicle is required as frequent local travel is necessary. News Director

A fulltime opportunity for an experienced news director to manage the FM Newsroom. The ideal candidate will have five or more years' experience managing a newsroom or producing a daily news and information program; demonstrated effectiveness as a staff manager or administrator required. Other requirements include sound knowledge of the legal and ethical standards of broadcast journalism; excellent editorial judgment; well-defined interpersonal skills in order to communicate effectively with staff and fellow news directors in order to share content as well as colleagues in technical, production and administrative departments. A Bachelor's degree in a related discipline and digital editing experience are also required. To succeed in this assignment, the individual should possess excellent organizational skills, previous experience scheduling staff and resources, and have the ability to produce quality work in a deadline driven, demanding environment. Familiarity with issues concerning residents of the region and established contacts with local and/or regional directors preferred. (12/10/09)
