Innovations Reporter

Innovations Reporter

A temporary, (approximately 15 months), fulltime position, focusing on what is going on in what's called the "innovation space" in this region - the places where ideas turn into patents or programs, and eventually into new wealth, news services and jobs. The Innovations "beat" will cover how the process works, and who are the heroes who make it work. Or how it doesn't work - and what obstacles get in the way. A focus on technology will be a component, but this beat isn't just about technology. Its about innovations in industrial procedures or design. And more importantly, its also about social innovation - about new ideas for getting things done in education, in policy, in philanthropy, volunteering and social innovation in our region. To be successful in this new position, an individual must possess at least two to three years experience reporting on a specific "beat"; previous experience writing and reporting stories on radio and online is required; and familiarity with web publishing tools and social media are need. Must be able to post audio and video online and edit and produce long and short radio pieces. Interpersonal skills, including writing, verbal and listening must be well-developed, the ability to work collaboratively is a vital component of this position and the ability to produce quality work in a multiple deadline environment is crucial. In addition to your resume and cover letter, please include links to three online samples of your work. 2/9/12
