Stinkbugs come in a variety of colors, but they always have the same shape. They make a mess of lots of different kinds of plants, and can ruin your season in a heartbeat. Mike McGrath will reveal the best ways to control stinkbugs, on both flowering and non-flowering plants. He'll also tell you about two look-alike bugs that are garden friends, not foes!

Do you dutifully water your plants every day, keep their soil covered with wood chips, feed them frequently, spray every insect, and still aren't having much luck? That's because you're already committing four of the most common mistakes gardeners make! Mike McGrath will reveal the other six in the Question of the Week.

This week, we put the spotlight on tiny plants that often go unnoticed. Mosses and liverworts might lack the eye-catching flowers of many other plants, but they have a beauty of their own. They also play a big role in ecosystems, pioneering the way for more advanced plants to take root in places where they would otherwise not be able to grow. Susan Munch joins us to discuss the habits and role of these small beauties. She has written "Outstanding Mosses & Liverworts of Pennsylvania & Nearby States". In the Question of the Week, Mike McGrath tackles a weed that is making gardeners nuts - whether you call it nutgrass or nutsedge. Mike will explain the best ways to keep this persistent pest of lawns under control.

Do you want to replace your dying summer container plants with something beautiful that will survive the winter? Jeff Jabco, Director of Grounds and Coordinator of Horticulture for the Scott Arboretum of Swarthmore College in Philadelphia has been teaching workshops on winter container gardening. He will suggest plants that can survive the winter from the frozen North to the milder South, and give advice on what kind of soil mixture and containers to use. Later on in the show: Many gardeners think they can just toss things like horse or chicken manure onto any part of their garden and have great success, but the reality is much more complex. Mike McGrath will explain how to properly use the many types of 'barnyard manure' to really please your plants.
