Meriwether Lewis and William Clark - their names make you think of exploration and the Wild West. On their adventurous search for the Northwest Passage food was a major concern. We'll find out what these rugged men ate on their three-year trip - our guest is Leslie Mansfield, author of "The Lewis and Clark Cookbook." Later on in the show, we'll take a modern-day expedition in New York City's Central Park and see what kinds of edibles we can find. We'll also hunt for the perfect sandwich with TV producer Rick Sebak, and explore an ancient grain with a new twist.

Everybody wants to be Irish on St. Patrick's Day - it's a fun-filled celebration of the Irish spirit, history and culture. And whether you've roots in the old sod, or just wear your green on March 17th chef Jim Coleman will get you well prepared for this wonderful holiday. We'll hear about Irish beers and spirits, and visit a generations-old candy store. Here we'll learn the art of creating delicious traditional sweets like Irish potatoes. Later on, we'll check in with chef Anne Cooper - she's given up her fine-dining gig and has become a school lunch lady. Finally, we'll look at the latest trends in party food, and get the scoop on Philadelphia's upcoming foodie festival; the Book and the Cook.

We use it every day, and we actually need it to survive. Yet we rarely give it any thought. Those small white grains seem pretty ordinary and dull pouring from the blue container. But for thousands of years, salt was one of the hottest commodities in the world. And, without sodium chloride, we wouldn't have some of our best-loved foods like cheese, ketchup, or soy sauce. Chef Coleman's guest is Mark Kurlansky, author of "Salt: A World History." We'll also go shopping for gourmet salts, visit a bookstore that sells only cookbooks, and check in with Italian chef and TV host Nick Stellino.

The cuisine of Sicily blends Arab and northern techniques with simple peasant ingredients. Most dishes feature the catch of the sea and what's available from the garden. We'll talk about this delicious style of cooking with chef Anna Tasca Lanza, author of "The Heart of Sicily." Later on the show, we'll sip some bubble teas in a unique teahouse, and find out what we should be doing to collect gold stars during National Nutrition Month. Finally, we'll cook up some mouthwatering one-pot dishes with food writer James Villas, author of "Crazy for Casseroles."
